Can children be part of the mediation process?

The wellbeing of children is at the heart of family mediation.

Mediation can help reduce tension, anger and misunderstandings. Mediation helps to achieve better communication. This is especially important as you will probably have to co-operate over their care and upbringing for some years to come. Good communication between the parents will help reduce the effect of separation on the children.

Children should continue to build quality relationship with both parents.

Your children can be part of the mediation process and voice their feelings and wishes. Children can express their views in a safe environment to a mediator who is qualified in Direct Child Consultaion and has been CRB checked.

The mediator would see your child separately and then feedback what the child expressed to you during the mediation session.
